  • Dr. Murphy has served as President of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry and as a member of the NIH National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council,and the NIH Council of Councils

Research interests: - Dr. Murphy's current research interests include machine learning of image-derived models of cell organization, automated detection of protein location changes during oncogenesis, and active machine learning approaches to experimental biology.
- His group pioneered the application of machine learning methods to high-resolution fluorescence microscope images depicting subcellular location patterns, and was the first to demonstrate superior machine performance in interpreting diverse patterns in biological images.

    "Rui Neto Marinheiro is a tenured Assistant Professor, at ISCTE - Lisbon University Institute, Portugal and a researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações.

    He obtained a PhD in the field of Multimedia Information Systems, at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, under the supervision of Professor Dame Wendy Wall. He was graduated, with the highest rank of his class, in M.Eng in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering with a minor in Telecommunications at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, Portugal.

    Dr. Marinheiro has an extensive experience in teaching and researching in the fields of Telecommunications, Computer Networks and Hypermedia. Dr Marinheiro has coordinated and participated in many national and international research projects."
